“What are you doing?”
“Survival test.”
Her face changed.
“Who put you here?”
He hesitated.
“Trent.”
Priya immediately tried the cabin door.
Locked.
She banged.
Trent opened it wearing a sweatshirt.
“What?”
“What is he doing outside?”
“He volunteered.”
Mason stared at him.
“I didn’t.”
Trent’s expression hardened.
Priya heard it.
“You locked a child outside?”
“For fifteen minutes.”
Mason looked toward the camp clock visible near the dining hall.
“It’s been two hours.”
Trent turned toward him.
“You don’t know how long.”
Priya stepped between them.
“He’s coming with me.”
The next morning, the camp director called them into his office.
Trent spoke first.
“He misunderstood a team-building exercise.”
Mason stared at the floor.
Priya said, “The door was locked.”
