“They locked us inside because I said I was hungry.”

Mia’s voice was barely a whisper, but it cut through the estate lobby like a scream.

Her face was flushed from the suffocating heat. Beside her, Ethan was barely standing, his small body trembling, his lips dry and cracked.

Silvio froze.

Grant moved forward and planted himself directly in Silvio’s path.

Lucinda casually spun the SUV key around one finger.

A slight smirk gradually appeared on Grant’s face.

“They’re actually still alive?”

Silvio carefully handed Ethan into the arms of another bodyguard.

Then Grant launched the first swing.

Silvio stepped aside.

Grant stumbled backward into the rolling valet kiosk. Rolls of tickets scattered over the pavement. Luggage carts and travel containers toppled around him.

Lucinda turned as though she intended to leave with the SUV key.

Silvio grabbed her wrist, pulled the key from her fingers, and forced her backward into the brochure display.

Estate maps floated across the stone floor while she stumbled into the waiting bench.

Two bodyguards quickly stepped into position behind them.

Silvio moved his eyes from his sister to her husband.

“What was the real reason you did that to those two children?”
